20 lb or 30 lb? Choosing Your Raw Dog Food Case Size

20 lb or 30 lb? Choosing Your Raw Dog Food Case Size

Choosing a case of frozen raw dog food is partly a freezer-space decision and partly a packaging decision. At West Texas Primal Bites, several blends come in a 20 lb case of ten 2 lb packages or a 30 lb case of six 5 lb packages. The total weight matters, but the size of each package matters just as much for your routine.

Compare the two case sizes

Case Packages inside What to consider
20 lb 10 × 2 lb packages Smaller individual packages and less total food to store.
30 lb 6 × 5 lb packages More total food and larger individual packages to plan around.

These options are available for Beef Blend, Turkey Blend and Wolf Run Plus. Senior Pro Blend comes in a 20 lb case of ten 2 lb packages. Check each product page for current availability and pricing.

Start with the package you will open

A 20 lb case and a 30 lb case do not simply contain different numbers of the same package. The 30 lb option uses larger 5 lb packages. Before ordering, consider how that package size fits the amount you already use and the space you have available.

If you prefer smaller individual packages, compare the 20 lb options first. If larger packages fit your established routine, the 30 lb option may suit you. A larger case is useful only when its packaging works for your household.

Estimate when you will need another case

Use the daily amount already established for your dog or household to estimate how long a case will last:

Case weight in pounds ÷ total pounds used per day = approximate days per case.

For example, if your household already uses 1 lb per day, a 20 lb case lasts about 20 days and a 30 lb case about 30 days. This is an ordering example, not a feeding recommendation. If you rotate multiple blends, calculate the total across all of the food you plan to use.
